What Will You Learn?

  • Chapter 9: Happy Birthday!
  • Talk about years and birthdays using was/were born (e.g., “I was born in 1986”). Begin using the past simple with irregular verbs like went, bought, and took to describe events.
  • Chapter 10: We Had a Good Time!
  • Expand your past simple skills with regular and irregular verbs to talk about leisure activities (e.g., “She cooked a meal”). Learn to ask and answer questions in the past tense (e.g., “What did you do?”).
  • Chapter 11: We Can Do It!
  • Learn to use can/can’t for abilities, requests, and offers (e.g., “Can you tell me the time?”). Build your vocabulary by pairing verbs and nouns commonly used together.
  • Chapter 12: Thank You Very Much!
  • Talk about what you want and would like in restaurants or while shopping (e.g., “I’d like a cup of coffee”). Practice ordering food and drink politely.
  • Chapter 13: Here and Now
  • Explore colors and clothes while learning the present continuous (e.g., “He’s wearing a t-shirt”). Compare it with the present simple for routines (e.g., “He has lunch at one”). Practice forming questions and negatives.
  • Chapter 14: It’s Time to Go!
  • Use the present continuous for future plans (e.g., “We’re going on a holiday”). Revise question words and review tenses for past, present, and future to talk about travel and sightseeing.
