Colloquial Chinese: Mandarin A1.1 Overview

Introduction

– Overview of the Chinese language

– Learn about tones, speech sounds, and grammar

– Introduction to Chinese characters and basic sentence structure

Chapter 1: Meeting for the First Time

– Introduce yourself and greet others

– Respond to yes/no questions

– Use appropriate forms of address

– Write your first Chinese characters

Chapter 2: Name, Nationality, and Age

– Share your name, nationality, and age

– Ask and respond to questions about these topics

– Count from 0 to 99

– Practice polite expressions and say goodbye

– Write more characters

Chapter 3: At a Company Party

– Exchange greetings more formally

– Use time-related phrases

– Learn question words like nǎr (where) and shéi (who)

– Use le for past actions and negate verbs with méiyǒu/méi

– Write more characters and recognize basic signs

Chapter 4: Asking the Time

– Tell and inquire about the time

– Use the verb yǒu (to have) correctly

Terms and Conditions

  • Your course fee includes one digital copy of the learning materials. If you’d prefer a hard copy, you can purchase one from our recommended supplier at an extra cost.
  • Public group classes are designed for 30 academic hours per CEFR level. If the group grows to 5-7 students, we’ll extend the program by 10 academic hours. If only two students enroll before the course starts, the group will shift to a semi-private format with 20 academic hours.
  • Want to switch to a different group or schedule? No problem! Just let us know at least 7 days before the course starts.
  • All our teachers are native speakers of the target language. If your teacher falls ill or has an emergency, we’ll arrange a substitute who’s fully briefed on your progress.
  • Once you’ve started with your group, switching to another group or schedule isn’t possible.
  • Please note that course fees are non-refundable once the group classes have begun.
  • We can record group lessons for later viewing, but only if everyone in the class agrees before the course starts.
  • At the end of every program, you’ll take a final exam (both written and verbal). To move up to the next CEFR level, you’ll need to score at least 70%.
  • After completing your final exam, you’ll receive a progress report, recommendations, and a certification for your hard work!
